Eagle Cycle Racing Wins MDRA Class Championship Hat-trick

Making history in MDRA’s second season, the Bentz family’s Eagle Cycle Racing Team was the dominant force in each of their three respective classes. Traveling from Prescott Valley, AZ. to compete in all eight MDRA events in 2009 and helping out both other racers and MDRA staff whenever possible, their contributions to the organization have been considerable.

Vikki Bentz claimed the gold in Super Eliminator by winning three of the eight events. She finished with 490 points; a substantial 170 point lead over second place. Vikki also made history twice by participating in the first ever all-female final round in MDRA, and being the first MDRA female Champion.

In Super Comp, Champion Bill Bentz (Vikki’s husband) won three events and was a runner-up in two more in 2009. He was the only racer to make all eight events in his class, finishing with 630 points, 220 ahead of second place.

Last, but certainly not least, Bob Bentz (Bill’s brother) dominated the Open ET class with five wins in eight events finishing with 710 points, 210 ahead of second.

So the family that races together wins together, they also received the prestigious “Team of the Year” award at MDRA’s year end Banquet of Champions. Congratulations to Eagle Cycle Racing!
